Mary Terry Goodwin Kuyk Scholarship
The Mary Terry Goodwin Kuyk Scholarship was established to honor the first president of the Junior League of Roanoke Valley. Each year, the League awards scholarships to college-bound high school seniors. The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize college-bound students who have demonstrated volunteer service and academic success.
To be eligible, the candidate must be a graduating, college-bound, high school senior who attends high school in the Roanoke Valley, volunteers in the Roanoke Valley, is not the child or grandchild of a New Member, Active or Sustaining Member of the Junior League of Roanoke Valley, and has maintained at least a “B” average for the current or previous school year.
The Scholarship Committee considers applicants based on the following criteria:
- Quality of documented volunteer work (as determined by the Scholarship Committee);
- References from adults associated with the applicant’s volunteer work;
- Documented scholastic record;
- Proper completion and timeliness of application.
