A Day to Remember “Extreme House Makeover” Part 2  Two years ago the women of Junior League completed an amazing extreme makeover of the main building of Bethany Hall. On May 17th 2008 the Bethany Hall Committee headed by Leigh Ann Pace, with Leighton Richards, Jessica Altizer, Kristen Crosby, Wendy Johnson, Alecia Nash and many friends, family members, JLRV members, and the staff and ladies of Bethany Hall were at it again this time transforming the apartments for woman and children.
The gloves were off as all worked together to spackle walls, paint, tile floors, hang new curtains, arrange new furniture, new bedding, beautiful wall hangings, lighting, and so much more. But what was more important were the lives that were touched and the friends that were made. One woman living at facility said that she was amazed that there were people (strangers who are now friends) out there who cared enough to help her and her children.  Committee members worked for months collecting donations, designing room, purchasing needed supplies and organizing volunteer work schedules and it was more than worth the time as everyone grew emotionally in ways that are hard to qualify.
Bethany Hall has provided services to more than 1,800 women in its 35+ years of existence with comprehensive residential addiction treatment for approximately $9,333 per year per client, which is significantly less than the $19,775 our correctional system spends per person per year (2002 Virginia average). Bethany Hall is one of two residential facilities in Virginia that allows children to live with their mothers while completing addiction treatment.
